 YOUTH HAVE BEEN

 POSITIVELY IMPACTED

 BY OUR PROJECTS

The Bahamas Urban Youth Development Center is a Registered Non-Profit Organization that has been committed to the empowerment and development of young Bahamians since 2010.

It has been providing services and support to young people ages 13 – 35 at risk of disengaging or disengaged from education, training and employment for the last six years.

This support is provided through empowerment education and case management in schools and the community as well as through individual and small group activities including workshops and vocational education and training programs.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

BUYDC provides a safe, non-judgmental environment for its participants regardless of their socioeconomic status to engage in discussions during workshops about safe sex practices, gender based violence, gang banging, substance abuse, crime and violence, and other high risk behaviour while demonstrating how ones behaviour whether negative or positive, impacts society as a whole.

We promote human rights and advocates for gender equality with a view of increasing young people’s capacity to make conscious, proud and responsible decisions. We do not discriminate against persons because of color, race, disability, gender, class, sexual orientation, age, political affiliation or religious belief.

We believe in preserving the self-respect and human rights of ALL Bahamians including sex workers, and high school drop outs particularly those living with HIV/AIDS, and offers an array of education and other intervention activities that aims to empower and promote behavioral change that responds positively to positive and negative HIV status.
