TEENAGE PREGNANCY
PREVENTION EDUCATION
FOR SCHOOL AGED YOUTH
This program seeks to promote abstinence plus teenage pregnancy prevention education for school aged youth ages 11 - 17.
The youth reside in hot spot neighborhoods with the highest incidences of gangs, crime and violence. Many of these students come from homes where one or more parents are ex-offenders, struggling with substance abuse, victims or perpetrators of violence, and left school without a high school diploma.
The program incorporates HIV Awareness education, career exploration and enrichment field trips, in addition to group sessions. Hosted weekly, these sessions focus on a myriad of issues that face this population, inclusive of:
-
Consequences of unprotected sex
-
Benefits of abstaining
-
Refusal and Negotiation Skills
-
Healthy relationships
-
Making good decisions
-
Overcoming Peer Pressure
