Y.E.S. targets out of school, unemployed, at-risk-youth ages 17 – 29 years old who have been diligently seeking employment but finding it challenging to compete with the many new graduates coming out of High School each year.

The Y.E.S. Employability Skills initiative educates persons with the basic skills necessary for getting, keeping and doing well on a job. The organization also offers job search assistance and personal decorum for the workplace. BUYDC’s offers an array of workshops and resources that were developed to provide participants with up-to-date information and programs to support educational and career pathways that enables them to support themselves and their families effectively. Students learn how to explore career ideas and develop skills necessary to manage their careers into the future.

 

Y.E.S workshops are conducted over three weekly sessions of three hours each. These sessions are designed to meet the needs of the students. YES workshops provides practical strategies and management styles to best engage with all workplace generations and, in doing so, assist employers to build an effective 21st Century workplace. These workshops have a particular emphasis on the newer generations entering the workforce, and the best ways of attracting, recruiting and retaining them. The employability skills training workshops are broken into three sessions that cover the following:
